Neil Gaiman: PULP ROMANCE →
mariadahvanaheadley:
He saw her across a crowded shelf.
Her deckle-edge was seductively deep, her endpapers velvety. She was a first edition, probably autographed. Any man would want to write his name in a book like her.
She noticed him perusing her pages, and blushed. He had a hard…

30 Days of Knitting (21)
Do you have any knitting superstitions?
Yes! I like to think that including an error in my finished projects prevents the gods from becoming angered. This is really more justification for not going back and undoing a mistake 6 rows later. I think I’d read at some point that Persian rug makers of old used to be sure to include “intentional mistakes” because only God was perfect and to create...

How to make your dreams come true:
cloysterbell:
1. Make a graham cracker crust.
2. Make some cookie dough.
3. Make some cheesecake batter.
4. Put globs of cookie dough in the cheesecake batter.
5. Pour into a springform.
6. Top with more cookie dough.
7. Bake that shit for 40 minutes at 350 degrees fahrenheit. If patient, go to next step. If you don’t give a fuck, skip directly to step 9.
8. Let chill in...

Why I’m obsessed with the Volvo Ocean Race.
I thought it was because it was epic and awesome and just completely obvious to any person with a pulse (and possibly some without). Yet, judging by some of the odd looks I’ve gotten when providing updates on each leg, some explanation may be in order. (I’m sure the looks are a result of lack of appreciation for this adventure and in...

30 Days of Knitting (20)
Have you ever stricken someone off your knit for list because they didn’t appreciate your last knitted gift?
Kind of. My very first cabled project was this awesome cable sampler scarf which I was incredibly proud of. An out-of-town friend was visiting and I knew she’d been going through a rough time and I made the scarf and a matching pair of mittens and offered it to her thinking,...

Do you knit gifts for friends and family?
I do, indeed! What I like about knitting is not the acquiring of new knitted items, it’s the process. And as with cooking or baking or any of those types of things, part of the process is seeing the enjoyment it brings other people. One thing I am bad about is I will knit something for a friend and another friend will see it and say, “I want...

Maureen Johnson: WHY DO WE PHOTOSHOP PEOPLE? →
maureenjohnsonbooks:
Many of you may have seen the articles today about the awesome fourteen year-old who took a petition to Seventeen Magazine requesting that they do one non Photoshopped spread a month. Seventeen, to their credit, heard her out. They ultimately turned her down.
Now, Seventeen Magazine can do…

what was awesome yesterday:
I may only say this once - but sometimes the good people outweigh the annoying people. Every once in awhile it feels like people actually take the time to see you. They still don’t listen…but I’m not complaining about that. At least not right this very moment.
